"You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

We invite you to read our stories and view our pictures. This site is work-in-progress, so please stop back often to see what is new. As new information is loaded, our names will become a link you can click on to read about our personal experiences on the trip. Please help us spread the word! We are all truly blessed to have met such loving and caring people while God watched over our ministry in Gulfport.

God's work was all around us. There was so much accomplished with our many hearts and hands during our week in Gulfport. With willingness to learn, we all learned new skills during our stay. Here is a short list of our participation and ministry during the trip:

  1. Preparation and cleanup of Easter Brunch for Westminster's sunrise and regular Easter Services
  2. We sang with the choir for Easter service
  3. Attended both Easter services
  4. Ongoing food preparation for all volunteers staying at Westminster
  5. Debris Removal
  6. Completion of shingling a roof at Mrs. Roberts home
  7. Another roof project involving tear off, structure repair, tar paper and shingles at Mattie Lott's home
  8. Rebuild of a damaged fence
  9. Painting of the inside of Angela’s house
  10. Painting of Shirley's fence
  11. Care for the Animals at the Humane Society where over 100 strays are still coming in.
  12. Church and yard cleanups, including our youth sawing some dangerous branches off trees
  13. Repaired a broken gate and garage door at Wally's house
  14. Inventoried and cleaned out the youth room which was over flowing with donated items
  15. Deliveries of inventory to the Katrina Kitchen
  16. Deliveries of donated furniture to a church member
  17. Inventoried and cleaned out freezers , "turning casseroles into sheet rock" (We even had a casserole night, eating up as many as we could!)
  18. Care for young children when requested, including CJ and Savanna, giving family members an opportunity to work or rest
  19. Participation in the youth group weekly dinner, a fundraiser for the youth at Westminster
  20. Made many trips to purchase items needed to do the jobs at hand
  21. We ministered to people we met... everywhere we went

Our family at Westminster has asked us to share the message of all that has been done and what CAN be done with our help. They have serious needs for skilled labor to help those who may not be able to obtain funding through normal channels. We hope to continue to share the word with you in the weeks and months to follow

God Bless you for supporting us in this mission.
Deb Hustis
