General Information
Irondequoit Presbyterian Church
is a protestant Christian congregation formed and
following the teachings and polity of the
Presbyterian Church (USA.) We are a member of the
Presbytery of Genesee Valley, the Synod of the
Northeast and the PCUSA.
While worship is at the center
of our life together, Irondequoit Presbyterian
Church also offers many additional opportunities
for spiritual development, fellowship, and service
through participation on a variety of church
committees, activities, and special events.
Listed below are the committees
that support the workings of this church. All the
committees welcome new members. Please check them
out and see where you might best be able to
serve.
Session
The Session is the governing
body of the congregation; twelve of its members
are elected as Elders by and from the congregation
for three-year terms of office. These Elders also
chair the several committees of our church. The
pastor is the moderator of the Session and an
ex-officio member of all church committees. The
Session is responsible for all church committees,
overall church mission and spiritual leadership.
The Session typically meets the 3rd Monday of the
month.

for terms as elders & Deacons.
All committees of Session will
meet on the second Sunday of the month after the
morning service is concluded.
Deacons
The Board of Deacons consists of
members of our congregation elected to minister
among us; Deacons ‘shepherd’ our members by
keeping in weekly contact with their ‘assigned’
parishioners and coordinating any member’s
‘special needs’. Deacons also serve on several of
the committees of our church. The elected board of
12 Deacons ministers to shut-ins, to the ill or
bereaved and to those with special
needs. Deacons will meet the third Sunday of
the month after the morning service is
concluded.
